Financial Inclusion in China

Please join CGAP and Dr. Sun Tianqi on November 6, 2012 for a presentation and discussion on financial inclusion in China. 

The event will begin with a short highlight of the recent CGAP publication on Financial Inclusion in the PRC, jointly published with the Working Group on Inclusive Finance in China. It will be followed by a presentation on financial inclusion and consumer protection by Dr. Sun Tianqi, Assistant Director General of the Research  Bureau at the People’s Bank of China, who is visiting from Beijing. 

Dr. Sun Tianqi is the Assistant Director General of Research Bureau of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC, China’s Central Bank). He is also the Division Chief of Financial Research Department of PBOC Xi’an Branch. His work covers various fields of finance and policy such as China’s economic and financial development, financial sector structure, regulation on non-deposit-taking lenders and financial consumer protection. Mr. Sun joined the PBOC Xi’an Branch in 2002 as the Division Chief of Statistics Department, and became the Division Chief of Financial Research Department from 2004. Prior to joining the People’s Bank of China, Mr. Sun served as the staff of the Governor’s office of Shaanxi Province for four years. Mr. Sun has independently published three books and co-published nine books. He has also published a number of research papers in Economic Research Journal, etc. He holds a Post Doctoral degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Northwest University of China.
