Save the Date: The Microfinance Impact and Innovation Conference

CGAP, along with partners Financial Access Initiative (FAI), Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), Moody's Corporation, and Deutsche Bank, is sponsoring a conference to discuss the impact of microfinance.
Sessions are relevant to all stakeholders, funders, practitioners, and policymakers. The conference, to be held 21-23 October 2010, in New York City, will present the latest research about the impact of microfinance.
Speakers include Abhijit Banerjee (MIT), Carlos Danel (Compartamos), Esther Duflo (MIT), Dean Karlan (Yale), Jonathan Morduch (NYU), Sendhil Mullainathan (Harvard), and Richard Rosenberg (CGAP).
Participants will learn more about the following research questions:
- What is the impact of microfinance on the poor?
- How do interest rates affect the demand for microfinance products?
- How does one design appropriate consumer regulations?
- Does business training help microenterprises?
- How can we increase savings behaviors among the poor?
