Denise Dias
Denise is an independent consultant specializing in prudential banking and microfinance regulation and supervision, working for CGAP, the World Bank, and GIZ (formerly GTZ). She is also an associate at Bankable Frontier. Prior to becoming a consultant in Jan 2011, she was a member of CGAP’s Government and Policy Team and the regional manager for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Before becoming staff at CGAP, Denise was a consultant for CGAP, GIZ, FIRST Initiative, and the World Bank in several regulatory matters related to financial access policy making. Prior to moving to the United States in early 2007, Denise worked in the banking supervision and licensing departments of the Central Bank of Brazil, led a small internet business in Brazil, and audited government programs for the Brazilian Ministry of Treasury. She holds an MBA in international banking and finance from the Birmingham Business School (UK), an MBA in financial sector economics from USP (Brazil), and a bachelor’s degree in business from UFMG (Brazil). She speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
