Kate Lauer

  

   

Kate is a lawyer and a policy advisory consultant to CGAP with more than 20 years of experience in international finance and microfinance. Kate began her career at the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen, & Hamilton from 1990-1994 and then served as in-house counsel for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (1995-1998). Later she served as vice president and assistant general counsel for an international investment fund at Goldman, Sachs & Co., (1998-2000). She also was an assistant professor in the Legal Studies Department of the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Kate has a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in economics from Dartmouth College. She is proficient in French and has a basic knowledge of Spanish and Hebrew.
