What are the Eligibility Requirements?
MFIs can nominate themselves or be nominated by any other organization working closely with an MFI such as a network partner, investor or regulator. The competition is open to formal regulated and non-regulated financial institutions and non-governmental organizations that offer retail microfinance services anywhere in the world and meet at least two of these three criteria:
- 3000 active clients or more;
- A microfinance loan portfolio exceeding USD 300,000;
- 2 or more years of microfinance operating history.
Applicants are required to:
- Complete an online application form by September 30, 2006.
- Have annual financial statements audited by an independent external auditor.
- Maintain a MIX Market profile that includes the latest audited annual financial statements (or four MIX diamonds).
Audited financial statements include:
- Directors' Report
- Signed audit opinion of external auditors
- Balance sheet
- Income statement
- Cash flow statement
- Statement of changes in equity
- Notes to the financial statements
This level of reporting at the MIX Market entails maintaining a profile with general institutional information, outreach and impact data, financial data for at least two consecutive years, and audited financial statements. The audited financial statements on the MIX must be a scanned copy of the documents signed by the external auditor. Applicants must have a MIX profile prior to beginning the FTA application process.
