CGAP Seeks Partners for Microfinance Digitization Community of Practice

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 7, 2022 – CGAP is seeking microfinance institutions (MFIs) to join its new MFI Digitization Community of Practice (CoP) to collaborate on digitization efforts and add value to micro and small enterprise (MSE) finance.

The CoP aims to identify the fundamentals for building value with digital implementations, based on an evidence-based examination of current practice, and will focus mainly on how to drive customer adoption in digital implementations, such as through different channels and credit automation. Participants will gain insights from analyzing real world cases of customer adoption of digital channels and products. They will also get a better understanding of how to improve their efforts to create value for their customers and their organization.

The CoP discussions will be informed by a set of customer behavior dashboards that each MFI will submit to CGAP. MFIs will generate the dashboards in a series of boot camp sessions in the first weeks of convening with the CoP.  The sessions will also build knowledge and skills for analyzing core banking system data to measure business and customer value generated from their digital initiatives.

Resources will be provided to members of the CoP to guide all participating microfinance providers through the process of data extraction, warehousing, analysis, and visualization. CGAP will produce dashboards that measure changes in customer behavior as customers adopt digital channels and services, and moderate peer exchanges centered on creating value with digitization.

In addition to technical advisory services and peer learning opportunities, partners can also benefit from visibility within the industry arising from CGAP communications on pilot lessons through channels reaching over 400,000 unique users every year. 

The CoP is open to twenty MFIs. Interested applicants are invited to complete the CGAP application form in EnglishFrench or Spanish and submit it to [email protected] before October 28, 2022 (submission deadline has been extended by a week). Selection criteria

CGAP is looking to partner with MFIs that have implemented a digital solution (e.g., a customer app, field officer app, digitization of credit application process) and want to improve their impact on their customer behavior (and, by extension, on the MFI’s business performance).

Partners must be committed to the success of the project and willing to draw on internal resources as required.
