This deck provides an overview of cybersecurity issues in mobile financial services. It addresses the security of DFS provider’s own systems and services as well as the security of the mobile networks they use to deliver their services, the security of the phones that customers use to access their services, and the implications this might have for the security of the overlaid mobile financial service, and of the customers’ personal data and finances. In addition, the deck provides regulatory and supervisory authorities with the information they need to assure themselves of the cybersecurity of the services they oversee; and to highlight to DFS providers all of those areas they should be considering. That said, this is not, and cannot be, an exhaustive list. It is instead a jumping off point for more thorough investigations.
