The Inclusive Insurance Regulations Map is an interactive tool that presents data on existing regulations for inclusive insurance, as well as other regulations that support inclusive insurance. This data is sourced from CGAP and A2ii research, collaborations, and engagements with insurance supervisors worldwide. The map serves as a tool for raising awareness and facilitating knowledge exchange, helping supervisors identify different practices for advancing inclusive insurance particularly in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies (EMDEs). Regular updates ensure the map remains current with the latest regulatory developments, allowing users to track policy changes, emerging trends, and best practices.

Definitions

A2ii considers “inclusive insurance regulation” to be dedicated frameworks with a definition of microinsurance and/or inclusive insurance or its equivalent, whether by way of a single piece of legislation or combination of law and regulatory issuances.

“Other supporting regulations” are those that make insurance more accessible and inclusive, enabling and fostering innovation and helping to close the protection gap, such as use of remote means, digital models and electronic signatures in insurance transactions, mobile insurance,  regulatory sandboxes, climate and disaster insurance, and index-based insurance, among other innovations and trends.
