Cesar Maita Azpiri

Cesar Maita Azpiri is senior manager, gender at IDH – The Sustainable Trade Initiative. Cesar is a business-oriented gender expert with over 15 years hands-on experience in private and non-profit organizations and is active in impact investing and sustainable value chains at both HQ and field level. Currently, he heads the global gender unit at IDH. In this role, he leads the organization in driving and supporting supply chain companies to work on the best strategies, innovations and pragmatic solutions to improve gender equality from a business perspective. This includes developing practical tools and approaches as well as providing direct technical advice on the design of gender transformative projects. As such, Cesar is responsible for building IDH’s thought leadership on the topic.

Prior to joining IDH, Cesar worked for Oikocredit and Promujer. He holds a master’s degree in international business law from Leiden University and an MBA degree from the HES Amsterdam School of Economic Studies. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in anthropology focused on gender equality in cocoa and coffee value chains.
